PRAZ-SUR-ARLY

A charming resort in the Mont Blanc region

The atmosphere of an authentic mountain village in the sumptuous setting of the Mont Blanc region is what gives Praz-sur-Arly its unique charm.

Located just four kilometres from the prestigious resort of Megève, Praz-sur-Arly s one of the gateways to the largest ski areas in Europe, with a total of over 750 km of slopes at your disposal !

In a preserved natural setting, this family resort, with its thousand or so inhabitants, offers an attractive lifestyle, far from stress, where life flows gently with the rhythm of the seasons.

Proud of its roots, this village in the Haute-Savoie region has managed to preserve its traditions and historical and cultural heritage, while becoming an attractive resort with all the local services and shops you need in the village centre and a wide range of leisure activities on offer.

All these assets make it the ideal place to stay for family holidays all year round.

Praz-sur-Arly also boasts a rich local culture and heritage, both in terms of its history and its gastronomy.

Six cheese appellations are produced here, four of which have protected designation of origin status (Beaufort, Reblochon, Abondance and Chevrotin) and two of which have protected geographical indication status (Tomme and Emmental de Savoie).

A NEW PEDESTRIAN AREA
IN THE VILLAGE CENTRE

Praz-sur-Arly is reinventing itself !

Long a sleepy stopover point, the village has undergone a major urban transformation since 2019. The new municipal team’s goal is to boost the resort’s appeal in both summer and winter.

The regeneration of the village centre is characterised by the creation of a new pedestrianised area around the square in front of Sainte-Madeleine Church.

It includes a medical centre, residential accommodation and local shops. When completed in 2026, it will become a hub of community life in the heart of the village.

The resort remains true to its family-friendly ethos.

The resort was the first municipality in France to welcome school ski trips in March 1950. It continues this tradition today, making it a particularly suitable destination for families.

It offers a wide range of leisure activities, including its famous Montgolfiades, hot air balloon flights that take place in January and also all year around.

Similarly, at the foot of the slopes in the Varins district, a new development project will see the construction of a village hall, a hostel, a 4-star tourist residence and a 4-star hotel.

DID YOU KNOW ?
PRAZ-SUR-ARLY
WAS BORN IN... 1907 !

Pratz de Megève, one of three hamlets founded in the 14th century and dependent at the time on Megève, is the origin of the modern village of Praz-sur-Arly.

In 1643, the chapel of Pratz was built. In 1779, the hamlet had around a hundred inhabitants who lived mainly from farming and livestock breeding.

After becoming part of France in June 1860, Pratz de Megève became independent, but Megève continued to oppose the separation until 1870.

It was not until 1907 that the village was finally cut off from its Megève heritage and took the name Praz-sur-Arly.

The inhabitants are called the Pralins and the… Pralines !
